West Point Island

West Point Island tops the list of the most beautiful Islands In Falkland. It a small island off the coast of West Falkland. It was given the name Albatross Island because of the thousands of black-browed albatross that nest there. The island is separated from the mainland by the "Woolly Gut," a charmingly named strait. Since 1879, West Point has been privately held by Roddy Napier and his family. West Point Island is known for its breathtaking beauty and diverse animals. The "Devil's Nose" is a rocky promontory with stunning sandstone cliffs, where black-browed albatross and rockhopper penguins live on jagged ledges and tussac grass. Spend your time watching albatross fly gracefully overhead while rockhoppers squabble with their neighbors, or simply lazing in the sun. If you look closely, you might notice something unique in the crowd, such as a macaroni penguin. In the waters below, whales, fur seals, and sea lions are frequently seen.

The "Devil's Nose" is a 2 kilometer hike from the town that takes you over wide, rolling terrain with beautiful sights. Hikers can enjoy the walk and vista from Cliff Mountain if time allows. This is not only the highest point on the island, but also the highest cliffs in the Falklands, at 381 meters (1,211 ft). A wonderful white sand beach is close by, and a picturesque village is nestled into a sheltered bay. Dolphins frequently visit the bay, especially when a boat is approaching. Magellanic penguins have dug tunnels in the harbour region, and other birds like as striated caracaras and turkey vultures can be seen. Near the farm buildings are fantastically shaded flower and vegetable gardens. West Point Island is accessible by boat on a day trip from Carcass Island, and it is also included on many cruise itineraries. The wonderful smoko served in the farmhouse, which dates from 1880, is a highlight for the latter.
