What Happened Before the Big Bang

With the Big Bang, the universe as we know it began 13.8 billion years ago. Science has been able to make educated guesses about what went occurred in the brief seconds following the Big Bang with a considerable amount of certainty. However, while we may make educated guesses about what occurred immediately following the Big Bang, trying to determine what occurred just before it is virtually difficult.

Even the idea of time before the Big Bang seems to defy reason. You probably picture an explosion if you try to picture it.
