Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden

The Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden pays tribute to chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr., who lived between 1861 and 1932. The Catalina Island Conservancy operates the gardens and memorial, which are located in Avalon Canyon and serve as the starting point for one of the island's most popular hikes, the Garden to Sky Trail.

The gardens cover 38 acres of rolling landscapes and focus on endemic plant species from the Channel Islands off the coast of California, many of which are listed as endangered. The Wrigley Memorial, a 130-foot tower built in 1934 with local materials, is the Botanic Garden's focal point. The memorial honors the man who founded the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, the world's largest chewing gum manufacturer, and who played an important role in the history of Santa Catalina Island. Where should you go this weekend for fun: FL, CA, MyrtleBeach, OR, New England weekend, Charlotte, Williamsburg, LA, PA.
