Zabargad Island

Zabargad Island is one of the Red Sea Islands within a natural preserve known as Elba National Park. It is an island rich with natural rock formation, Sea marine life, corals, and breeding birds; at least nine species of birds are known to breed there. Octopuses, crocodile fish, and eel fish to name a few are present near its shore. It is one of the biggest islands within the foul Bay, Egypt, and a geologically unique place known for the topaz rocks within its layers. It is still a virgin island rich with various gifts of nature; an excellent place for diving and bird watching, let alone catching the vibes of both the rocks and the sea.

The mystical island Zabargad, also known as St. John's Island, has much to offer. A true paradise for underwater photographers. Almost everything you see is worth a picture, certainly the wreck. It is an old freighter. Pretty overgrown and surrounded by colorful fish and pristine reefs. Zabargad is the largest island in this region. It lies along Ras Banas, on the coast side of Sudan. The pristine beauty is amazing.

Zabargad Island is located 71 km from the Egyptian coast in the middle of the sea, and at its southern fringing reef lies the dive site Turtle Bay, whose name derives from the turtles that come here once a year to lay their eggs on land. Because of the island’s large size, the southern coast is sheltered from the wind and waves allowing liveaboards to safely moor here at night and making it suitable for night dives. Turtle Bay is suitable for inexperienced divers because of its topography and overall favorable conditions. The current that occasionally flows here is usually not too strong and is easy to take into account.
