Zakynthos, Greece
Zakynthos (or Zante) is one of the most well-known and stunning islands in Greece, home to the renowned Navagio (Shipwreck) beach and the critically endangered Caretta Caretta sea turtle species. But in addition to Shipwreck Beach, there are a lot of other fantastic beaches you should check out, including Laganas, Gerakas, Vasilikos, and Spiantza. Every spring and summer, the endangered Caretta-caretta sea turtles lay their eggs on some of these beaches. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of them emerging from the water to bury their eggs in the sand, but you must take care not to disturb them.
