Zurich
Zurich is one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities. In the winter, the medieval old town, or Altstadt, is extremely lovely. Streets, stores, and tourist sites are all decked up with festive lights. Check out our Zurich itinerary for two days. The Fraumünster, Grossmünster, Lindenhof Hill, and, of course, Bahnhofstrasse are all located in the old town. Wandering the Bahnhofstrasse with a hot chocolate in hand is one of the nicest things to do in Zurich in the winter. A modest Christmas food market (Werdmühleplatz) has been put up for the season and is a must-see.
Visit the Fraumünster in the Old Town. This 11th-century church is beautiful both inside and out, with stained glass windows and a festive atmosphere. Zurich's Christmas Markets are among the best in Europe. The largest market is located at the major train station, so stop by here before traveling elsewhere in Switzerland. The gigantic Swarovski Christmas tree, covered with dazzling lights, is the main attraction. Zurich is a great place to start if you want to see more of Switzerland. Zurich Airport is the country's biggest and the main hub of Swiss International Air Lines.
