Obviously, an extraterrestrial invasion doesn't always need to be political to be fantastic! Invasion of the Body Snatchers is indeed a prime illustration of how metaphor is not always effective in science fiction. The film has been viewed by reviewers and its own actors as anti-Communist, anti-McCarthyite, and a straightforward adventure movie with no more ideological connotation than a typical video game about toppling a ruler.
However, what the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers has to offer is one of the most creative methods of extraterrestrial invasion ever shown on film. As previously stated, transporting an army of extraterrestrial invaders across the eternally wide and frigid expanse of space is a tremendous and probably unnecessary plotline if not handled well. The movie Body Snatchers tackles this issue by having its aliens - instead of languishing on a spacecraft - fall to Earth as seeds. Space is vast, and time is long; hence, if you send a number of seed pods out into the universe, they will eventually fall on a planet or moon that is worth attacking.
Obviously, this is a haphazard approach, and there is no assurance that your alien lifeforms will be suited to the planet on which they establish themselves. Therefore, the seeds mimic whatever the dominating local life form seems to be, leading to unpredictable and exhilarating events that unveil in the rest of the movie. We do not hesitate to call Invasion of the Body Snatchers one of the best movies about aliens.

It is true that the Guardians of the Galaxy movie has existed for far longer than its MCU debut. But still, it's definitely safe to argue that this 2014's film has successfully introduced the characters to the general public in ways that they have never been treated before.
As die-hard fans of the comics, we were pleased to see how comic book-like it was as well. Without giving away any surprises, we were delighted by many Easter eggs and references from the comic books strewn everywhere, as well as the appearances of a few characters in unanticipated roles.
It is evident that, although Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise capitalizes on some of the actors' identifiable fame, it was also created with a passion for the original source in mind. What we got in the end is a movie in which comic book lovers will certainly find something remarkable, while people who are more familiar with Marvel movies will still be able to pick it up and grasp it with relative ease.
Moreover, Cosmo, the clairvoyant Russian space dog, finally gets all the screen time he deserves and is the greatest character out of all the cast! All in all, we are pleased to say that Guardians of The Galaxy is among the best movies about aliens.

Attack The Block, with its Rotten Tomatoes Score of 90%, is the next contender on our list. It is indeed an exceptionally British film - much more so than the Cornetto trilogy that was released around the same time and received far less accolades.
In order for a viewer to truly comprehend Attack the Block, one must realize that, in our culture and as a society, most people dislike the poor, and the young, and are also somewhat prejudiced. This knowledge helps you gain better insight into what the movie is trying to convey.
When the audience is introduced to the protagonists of Attack the Block - including a rebel scum Jonathan Boyega - they are not meant to be instantly well-received. These characters are intended to be the ASBO-wielding, hoodie-wearing youths that Britain's newspapers often wrote about to terrify white readers. Described as black, amorphous, hairy creatures with glaring green teeth, these characters represent everything that the media has fed white people about their black counterparts.
All in all, Attack The Block is a fantastic satire and a terrific action film that gives us some good reminders that in a story about an alien invasion, what the aliens reveal about humanity remains the most significant message of all.

There are likely to be a few threads of They Live inside Captive State's DNA. In this legendary classic from the 1980s, filmmaker John Carpenter declares that he knows every single author who employs subtext, and that they are all cowards! What does that mean? You have to watch They Live in order to find out.
In the story of They Live, a pair of special sunglasses exposes that our business leaders, politicians, religious leaders - and essentially every member of the upper-middle class and above - are gruesome skeleton-faced aliens that have implanted themselves into the power systems on Earth to manipulate the human race, particularly people who tilt toward the Reaganism of the 1980s in the United States.
As we just mentioned, the only way we can see through these aliens is to wear a special pair of sunglasses that reveal the aliens' actual faces and transform all billboards and magazine covers into the words "Consume" and "Obey." The film's high point is undoubtedly the infamous "sunglasses" battle, in which Kieth David and Roddy Piper beat each other to a pulp as Piper attempts to get David to wear these sunglasses, which David adamantly refuses to do.
They Live is an audible and plain picture that revolves around the ills of materialism and the power systems that sustain it. Catastrophic misinterpretations aside, this is a brazen, loud, no-fucks video that demonstrates to the audience that power manipulation is the best way for aliens (or anyone out there) to take over a particular society. It is, no doubt, among the best movies about aliens.

Stars: Roddy Piper, Keith David

If the political elements in some of the movies above are too obscure for you, then Captive State is indeed a movie that spells them out as clearly as possible. What would you do if you wanted to control the planet, cut it off its resources, irreversibly alter its atmosphere and climate, and repress any possible opposition? The solution is not much different from what we are currently doing today!
Captive State is a highly underrated picture, whose stories occur after the aliens have arrived on Earth and displayed their powerful weapons, causing our global leaders to immediately lose their minds and give the aliens everything they ask for.
The aliens inhabit enormous underground domes and are never seen all through the movie. Instead, the audience can only see the tension cells operate on the screen. Our protagonists try their best to battle human police agencies, human military forces, and human political power, while striving to sustain the human population under control.
In this film, the human cause appears to be truly hopeless. The rebellion is not a courageous group of rebels, but rather a group of desolate, hopeless individuals who go into action knowing that they will perish before their aims are accomplished. We can say that the movie eschews the glitz and glamor of alien invasion - in favor of the mundanity of alien occupation and the true cost of fighting against it. We wish that more people would appreciate the genius behind this movie.
