Invasion of The Body Snatchers
Obviously, an extraterrestrial invasion doesn't always need to be political to be fantastic! Invasion of the Body Snatchers is indeed a prime illustration of how metaphor is not always effective in science fiction. The film has been viewed by reviewers and its own actors as anti-Communist, anti-McCarthyite, and a straightforward adventure movie with no more ideological connotation than a typical video game about toppling a ruler.
However, what the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers has to offer is one of the most creative methods of extraterrestrial invasion ever shown on film. As previously stated, transporting an army of extraterrestrial invaders across the eternally wide and frigid expanse of space is a tremendous and probably unnecessary plotline if not handled well. The movie Body Snatchers tackles this issue by having its aliens - instead of languishing on a spacecraft - fall to Earth as seeds. Space is vast, and time is long; hence, if you send a number of seed pods out into the universe, they will eventually fall on a planet or moon that is worth attacking.
Obviously, this is a haphazard approach, and there is no assurance that your alien lifeforms will be suited to the planet on which they establish themselves. Therefore, the seeds mimic whatever the dominating local life form seems to be, leading to unpredictable and exhilarating events that unveil in the rest of the movie. We do not hesitate to call Invasion of the Body Snatchers one of the best movies about aliens.
