College is supposed to be a period of personal growth and self-discovery. Much like many students before and after him, Bernie Sanders, a contender for president, used his college years to shape himself into the man he is today. It's hardly surprising that Sanders spent the majority of his time in school denouncing injustices on campus and in the larger community rather than on the sports field, in fraternity row, or even in the classroom.

Sanders first enrolled at Brooklyn College when he was 18 years old, just over a mile north of the home he grew up in and about the same distance from his high school, James Madison High School. Sanders graduated from high school with unresolved ambition, like most young adults. His mother was also experiencing heart issues at the time. Like many students in the late 1950s, Sanders' decision to attend college close to home was driven in part by his desire to be near his family.

Bernie's own academic performance was lacking. This is one of the interesting facts about Bernie Sanders. Before transferring to the University of Chicago, where he received a bachelor of arts in political science, he was enrolled at Brooklyn College. However, he didn't put much effort into his academics, called the classroom "boring and uninteresting," and was a lousy student. Of course, he has appeared in many other movies and TV shows, always as Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. His whole filmography seems to be made up of the two roles mentioned above; during that time, he co-starred with an Oscar winner in films about athletics, Vermont, New York, and wealth redistribution. That is to say, it was flawless.

Due in part to his release of his medical records, but more so because the subject came up during the most recent CNN Democratic town hall, Bernie Sanders' physical prowess has recently come up in conversation on the campaign trail.

The squad had success as well, placing second in the borough and sixth overall during his senior year, garnering the accolade "one of the best teams in Madison's history" in the yearbook. The only accomplishment recorded in the yearbook the year Sanders left is a team's second-place finish in Flatbush.

The independent congressman from Vermont was raised in New York City and received a political science degree from the University of Chicago. Bernie Sanders held the position of mayor of Burlington, Vermont, from 1980 to 1989. His family continues to reside in Burlington.

One of the interesting facts about Bernie Sanders is that he became the first independent lawmaker elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in decades when he secured a seat in 1990. Sanders referred to their parents as loving the New Deal and stated, "I voted for Bernie Sanders with a great sense of pride."
