Albert Dickas, who was born in Ohio, earned a BA and an MA from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio). He received his PhD from Michigan State University and then spent many years working in the oil industry. For thirty-one years, he taught at the University of Wisconsin Superior, founded an environmental research center, and became involved in industrial oil exploration in the Precambrian strata of the Midcontinent Rift.
