A Tale of a Thousand Stars
Thai black-and-white drama "A Tale of a Thousand Stars" debuted on GMMTV in January 2021. Earth Pirapat Watthanasetsiri plays Tian, a young man who is mourning the loss of his boyfriend, and Mix Sahaphap Wongratch plays Phupha, a forest ranger who helps Tian carry out his promise to scatter his boyfriend's ashes in a remote area in northern Thailand. The show is directed by Naruebet Kuno.
The series takes its name from a proverb attributed to the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu: "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." The series is based on a book by the author Bacteria. The show has received recognition for both the chemistry between its lead performers and for its stunning photography.
The series examines topics including sorrow, family, and cultural identity in addition to the romance between Tian and Phupha. The program has been favorably regarded both domestically and abroad and has contributed to the BL subgenre's rise to popularity in Thailand.
