Abacus was a German hi-fi manufacturer founded in 1983. The name of the company was inspired by the abacus, an ancient counting device. Abacus electronics swiftly established itself as one of Germany's premier HiFi companies, with devices noted for their high quality and inventive design.

The usage of Dolifet amplifier technology is one of the most distinguishing elements of Abacus products. Dolifet is a proprietary design that achieves great performance by combining analog and digital circuits. This technology can be found in all Abacus amplifiers and some of their speakers.
