Academi
Academi was an American private military firm created on December 26, 1996, as Blackwater by former Navy SEAL commander Erik Prince, renamed Xe Services in 2009, and renamed Academi in 2011 after a consortium of private investors acquired the company.
In 2007, a group of its employees massacred 17 Iraqi citizens and injured 20 others in Nisour Square, Baghdad, for which four guards were convicted in the United States, but President Donald Trump later pardoned them on December 22, 2020.
Academi provides services to departments and agencies of the United States government, law enforcement organizations, allied government, business, and private customers all around the world. The group has been providing services to the Central Intelligence Agency since 2003. International Development Solutions, an Academi affiliate, was awarded a $92 million contract for State Department security personnel in 2013. Academi merged with Triple Canopy, a Constellis Group company, in 2014.
