Amazingly beautiful lakes

Despite being a landlocked country, Malawi depends heavily on its enormous freshwater lake. With a size of 29.600 km2, Lake Malawi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the third-largest and second-deepest freshwater lake in Africa. It is also the fifth-largest freshwater lake in the world by volume and the ninth-largest lake in the world by area. With its pristine beaches and clear water, high mountains covered in rainforest, and sandy beaches with palm trees, you'll swear you're on a subtropical island.

Lake Malawi, the largest natural aquarium in the world, is home to more than 500 different kinds of fish, 99% of which are assumed to be native to the area. It's not just about the fish, though. Numerous bird species, as well as hippos, warthogs, baboons, and occasionally elephants, use this lake. You can continue to take in the vistas from various perspectives during your journey because it nearly completely covers the eastern half of the country. The near-empty seas make it perfect for freshwater scuba diving and snorkeling, while the golden beaches and palm tree-covered islands make it a terrific place to unwind.

One of the best spots to view starry skies is the lake known as the "Lake of Stars" because of its dazzling waters during the day and the hundreds of lights from fishermen's dugout canoes that line the horizon at night. Around the lake, there are further water sports available, such as swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, water skiing, and kayaking.
