American Heartworm Society
American Heartworm Society was founded with the purpose of guiding the veterinary profession and the general public toward a better knowledge of heartworm disease. Research on heartworms is now receiving direct and indirect funding from the Society in the form of grants to the Morris Animal Foundation totaling several hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
The American Heartworm Society offers a number of helpful services, but probably the most beneficial of them is the publication of Current Guidelines for Canine and Feline Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Heartworm Disease. You are free to download these guidelines at any time to keep up with the latest information as it becomes available since they are regularly updated.
Additional educational tools and services are made available by the American Heartworm Society. These include symposia, publications, client education materials, and heartworm outreach to both veterinarians and the general public. The ultimate objective is to encourage the development of efficient processes for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heartworm disease.
