The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is one of the oldest and largest veterinary medical organizations in the world. Established in 1863, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is a professional organization in the United States that serves as a representative body for more than 99,500 veterinarians.
The American Veterinary Medical Association offers its members access to information resources, opportunities for continuing education, publications, and savings on personal and professional products, services, and events. The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is the charity arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
More than 100,000 veterinarians from all over the world are active participants in a diverse range of professional activities. The Foundation first got its start in 1963, and its current administrative offices may be located in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago. Since the foundation's creation, the AVMF has awarded grants in the areas of education, animal welfare, disaster help, and research programs with the goal of assisting veterinarians in their efforts to help animals.
