American International School Kuwait
The American International School of Kuwait (AISK) is a private independent day school for students from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. It was established in 1991 after Kuwait was freed from Iraqi forces. Dr. Kamil Al Rayes founded the school with the goal of creating a high-quality institution that offers a challenging and supportive environment.
AISK is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School authorized to offer the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma (DP) Programmes. It is divided into three divisions: Elementary (PK-4), Middle (5-8), and High School (9-12).
Since its opening, AISK has steadily grown and currently has a student population of just over 2100. While English is the language of instruction, around sixty percent of the students are Kuwaiti. The remaining students come from different parts of the world, creating a diverse and engaging environment.
All AISK students study Arabic as a first or second language until grade 9, as required by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Muslim students also study Islamic religion throughout their education.
AISK encourages its students to strive for balance and participate in a wide range of athletic and extracurricular activities. The school organizes events like International Day, Arabic Culture Day, Sports Day, and Fine Arts and Math Nights, highlighting the holistic and inquiry-driven nature of the curriculum.
AISK is dedicated to providing the best education in Kuwait and preparing its students for top universities worldwide. It received reaccreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) in 2013, which was reaffirmed in May 2017. Additionally, all three IB Programmes were reauthorized in the spring of 2017.
