Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian film actor, producer, TV presenter, cameo singer and former politician known for his work in Hindi film. He is considered one of the most influential actors in Indian cinema history. In the 1970s and 1980s he was the most dominant actor in Indian cinema. French film director François Truffaut called it "a one-man industry."
Bachchan was born in Allahabad in 1942 in the family of Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and his wife, public figure Teji Bachchan. He was educated at Sherwood College in Nainital and Kironi Mal College in Delhi. His film career began in 1969 as an announcer for Mrinal Sen's film Bhuvan Shom. He first gained popularity in the early 1970s with films such as Zanjir, Divaar, and Sholai, and was named India's "Evil Young Man" for his screen roles in Hindi films.
He is one of the biggest names in the Indian film industry. The fortune he earned makes him one of the richest Bollywood stars in history. Today he is the sixth-richest actor in the world with a fortune of $400 million.
