Amrut Distilleries
Amrut Distilleries Ltd is an Indian manufacturer of distilled drinks. It is well known for its namesake Amrut brand of single malt whiskey, which was the first to be produced in India. The brand rose to prominence after world-renowned whiskey critic Jim Murray gave it an 82 out of 100 grade in 2005 and 2010. Murray ranked Amrut Fusion single malt whiskey as the third finest in the world in 2010.
Amrut single malt whiskey is made in Amrut Distilleries' primary distillery, which is located on a 4-acre (1.6-hectare) location in Kambipura, a community on State Highway 17. Amrut single malt whiskey is created from barley, as well as peated barley in some versions. The barley comes from Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, while the peated barley comes from Scotland.
The manufacturing process involves the use of six 10,000-litre stainless steel fermenters, two unique conical 5,000-litre copper Pot stills with copper condensers and new and used ex-Bourbon barrels. In order to create additional employment, the firm chose against employing computers and automation in its distillery. The distillery produces 4 million cases of whiskey per year, with around 25% being blended whisky and approximately 10,000 cases being Amrut single malt.
