Jameson
Jameson is a blended Irish whiskey made by Pernod Ricard's Irish Distillers division. Originally produced at the Jameson Distillery Bow St. in Dublin, Jameson is currently produced at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It is by far the most popular Irish whiskey in the world, with annual sales exceeding 8 million cases in 2019. It has been distributed abroad since the early nineteenth century and is now accessible in over 130 countries.
Jameson is made from a blend of grain whiskey and single pot still whiskey, which employs a combination of malted and unmalted or "green" Irish barley procured from within a fifty-mile radius of the distillery in Cork. The barley is dried in a closed kiln powered by natural gas (formerly anthracite coal). This is in contrast to the conventional procedure employed by some Scotch whiskey distilleries, which fires the kiln with peat, imparting a unique peat flavor.
