Anthology Film Archives
The independent, experimental, and avant-garde cinema is a special area of emphasis at Anthology Film Archives, an international center for the preservation, research, and exhibition of film and video. The film archive and theater are situated in a Manhattan neighborhood known as the East Village, in a historic area of New York City, at 32 Second Avenue on the southeast corner of East 2nd Street.
Anthology Film Archives publishes historical and scholarly books and catalogs, shows almost 1,000 public programs each year, hosts weekly in-person artist appearances accompanying their work, and offers weekly in-person artist appearances. Anthology keeps a priceless collection of almost 20,000 movies and 5,000 videotapes, and it preserves 25 to 35 movies annually, totaling more than 900 titles to date.
