Atchana's Homegrown Thai ranks first in best restaurants In Coconut Grove. Atchana Capellini owns and operates Atchana's Homegrown Thai. The Chuaindhara family immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s, and Atchana grew up in the kitchens of her parents' various Thai restaurants in South Florida. For several years, she ran the hugely successful Thai restaurant Siam Lotus Room (also known as the Ugly Green Building), where some of her most devoted customers had their first taste of Thai. In 2008, Atchana opened Atchana's East West Kitchen at The Mutiny Hotel, and her menu reflects her life's many flavors. Atchana is now launching her newest business, Atchana's Homegrown Thai.
Southeast Asian-food enthusiasts can now enjoy Atchana Capellini's honest approach to Thai cooking thanks to the recent opening of her namesake in Coconut Grove. Atchana serves a rich blend of simple and vibrant dishes reminiscent of Capellini's childhood in a welcoming atmosphere, using herbs and spices sourced from local farms. Try the larb gai ($15), which is light and flavorful Isan-style minced chicken with lime and fresh herbs. There are curries, soups, rice, and noodles to choose from, but the pad thai ($17) and crispy duck ($35) are not to be missed. You'll feel right at home if you pair your meal with craft beer from local microbreweries.
