Autostraddle
Autostraddle is a digital publication and real-life community for multiple generations of LGBTQIA+ humans (and their friends) that was founded in 2009. This site is built to create a great space where lesbians in particular, and queer people in general, can be their true selves and get informed of the newest news related to the community.
Created by a group of friends that genuinely want to make big changes in the queer media landscape, Autostraddle is serious in its mission of spreading love as well as lesbian culture, and now has become one of the best LGBTQIA+ websites with over 2.5 million unique views per month. The website has a bounce rate of 62% and 2.13 pages per visit (As of April 2023). The website's activist content and features, such as queer girl city guides and local events, unite its predominantly lesbian and bisexual female readers.
Behind such a successful website is a rather small team of hard workers. This year, the site has only seven full-time staff members, four part-timers, and lots of independent contractors. Despite not having as many staffs as other big sites, Autostraddle won the 26th Annual GLAAD Award for “Outstanding Blog” and was nominated for several other awards.
