The Advocate is the perfect website for in-depth and up-to-date content that happens to be LGBTQ+! Starting off as a printed magazine that focuses on news, politics, opinion, and arts and entertainment of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgenders, the brand moved its way to the internet and quickly gained its reputation.

The Advocate is established in 1967 as a local newsletter by the activist group Personal Rights in Defense and Education (PRIDE) in Los Angeles, therefore was titled "The Los Angeles Advocate". It is the oldest and largest LGBT publication in the United States and the only surviving one of its kind that was founded before the 1969 Stonewall riots. It was until 1969 that the site remained The Advocate.

The Advocate website is launched in 2008 and now has become one of the most visited websites with LGBTQ+-related content.
