Baldwin

Baldwin Pianos - America's largest piano company. Baldwin was founded in 1862, when piano teacher Dwight Hamilton Baldwin in Cincinnati founded the Decker Brothers piano dealer. In 1866, he hired Lucien Wulsin as his secretary, and the two eventually became partners in a joint venture, then named D.H. Baldwin & Company.

Since then, Baldwin has become the only American piano company to manufacture and distribute quality pianos for all price points and facets of the piano market. The Artist Grand was the first handcrafted guitar at the Trumann factory in the United States, one of the best anywhere, at any price at the time, in America. Second in terms of piano quality is the Baldwin piano brand. Baldwin piano is listed as one of the oldest piano manufacturers, the first pianos of this brand appeared in the world in 1890. For many years Baldwin was the largest piano manufacturer in the United States and for most of the 20th century, the company only produced pianos for the domestic market.

History is extremely important to the Baldwin brand. Baldwin has been in business for 158 years as of 2020 and has become the piano of choice for some of the world's most celebrated artists, including Aaron Copland, Liberace, Dave Brubeck, Marian McPartland, Ben Folds and Miley Cyrus.

International awards that Baldwin received: In 1900 he received the Prix Grand, an international exhibition in Paris. In 1904 the restaurant received the title of Top, the St. Louis exhibition. In 1914, he won the title of Top, Anglo-American Exhibition in London. For many professional pianists, they choose Baldwin pianos as an alternative to Steinway pianos because of their cheaper price but only slightly inferior quality and elegance.
