Banaue Rice Terraces, Ifugao

Banaue is home to the picturesque Rice Terraces, another must-see Cordillera sight. These remarkable rice paddies, which were highly skilled hand-carved both wood and mountainsides by the Ifugao people over 2,000 years ago, are terraced like huge staircases and follow the contours of entire mountain ranges. Banaue is also the starting point for visiting the Ifugao Rice Terraces, which are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. During the rice-growing seasons of April-May and October-November, it gives stunning views of emerald colours.

Spend the night in a homestay in one of the little villages like Batad or Banga-an for a unique local experience. Immerse yourself in the Ifugao culture, wake up to a view of the rice terraces while sipping a hot cup of traditional coffee, and take a spectacular hike to the Tappiya Waterfalls.

Also, Banaue and its many natural beauties may be crowded, so travel further to the tranquil Batad Rice Terraces and take a brief plunge in the majestic Tappiya waterfalls. Apart from exploring the nearby, Baguio City, You also can go and pick strawberries at La Trinidad, Benguet.
