Bangalore International School (BIS) is an educational institution with an interesting origin story. Bangalore in the late 1960s a time when there was a noticeable absence of schools offering the kind of education that American families were accustomed to. This educational gap caught the attention of Eloise R. Bennett and her family, who were on a USAID contract in the city. Unhappy with the limited schooling options, they took matters into their own hands and 1969, established the American Community School, initially operating out of their garage on Millers Road.
The school has undergone a transformation, now known as Bangalore International School. This change in nomenclature reflects its commitment to providing an international education that embraces diversity and inclusivity.
When it comes to academics, BIS is in sync with global standards. Additionally, BIS serves as a testing center for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) exams, showcasing its dedication to providing students with a comprehensive and globally relevant education.
