Barren River Lake
Barren River Lake, another well-liked vacation lake in Southern Kentucky, is located twenty miles southeast of Bowling Green. This reservoir covers 10,000 acres and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Barren River Lake State Resort Park, which is close to the village of Lucas, is the most well-liked recreation area.
Within the State Park Resort, the Barren River State Dock offers boat slips, launches, and rentals. The majority of the fleet in the marina is made up of several types of pontoon boats, along with other fishing boats like Jon boats. One of the most well-liked pastimes on the lake is fishing, with bass, walleye, and crappie frequently accepting the bait.
The State Park Resort has 99 campsite units along with lodge rooms, contemporary cabins, and other types of overnight lodging. Self-guided hiking routes and an illuminated outdoor basketball court are two more land-based amenities. A professional 18-hole golf course with club rentals is another amenity of the resort.
Separate from the State Park Resort, the Army Corps of Engineers manages four campgrounds. These campgrounds provide a little more peace and seclusion and separation from the masses. Boat ramps and swimming beaches can be found at Bailey's Point and Tailwater, two of the campgrounds.
