Lake Cumberland

Lake Cumberland, one of the biggest artificial lakes in the country, stretches into numerous counties in southern Kentucky. The Wolf Creek Dam, which impounds the Cumberland River, serves two main purposes: energy generation and flood management. However, during the past 50 years, this public body of water has grown in importance for southern Kentucky tourism.

Due to a sizable fleet that is frequently spotted on the waters, Lake Cumberland is also referred to as the "Houseboating Capital of the World". Rental houseboats range from comfortable floating homes to 90-foot boats that may accommodate up to 18 people. These floating residences can be rented from a number of marinas and hotels near the lake, including Lake Cumberland Marina and Beaver Creek Resort.

Popularity varies across the board on Lake Cumberland, not just houseboats. Powerboats, Jet Skis, and fishing rigs have plenty of room on the lake's nearly 65,000 acres of surface area. Waterskiing, fishing, and anchoring in hidden coves are regular boating activities.

The seashore is lined with exciting destinations. One such interesting location is Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, which lies close to Jamestown on the northern side. There are lodge accommodations, cabins, and campsites available at this state park all-inclusive.
