It was consumed by all classes, and all ages in the same way that we consume water today. For the Egyptians, beer was the main source of their diet. They had beer for their breakfast to start the day, and they took it with their dinner to close the day. It's no wonder, then, that the Egyptians seemed to always be tall and energetic in what they were doing, beer-fueled it.

Ancient Egyptians made beer by boiling half of barley and then soaking it in water for it to set, it is a very nutritious food containing high protein, minerals, and vitamins. It's the same thickness as a glass of milk and contains low alcohol content.
