Big Mama’s Reef
This dive location will appeal to those interested in shark diving despite Big Mama’s Reef's amusing moniker. Big Mama's Reef, located off the southeastern coast of St. Maarten, is made up of a sandy channel and a vast, lush reef. You'll be able to swim with beautiful Caribbean reef and nurse sharks, as well as take stunning underwater photos of these massive creatures.
The greatest depth is roughly 160 feet, and the visibility is superb. You'll be able to witness enormous grouper, stingrays, angelfish, squirrelfish, lobster, and barracuda in addition to sharks in Big Mama’s Reef. Prepare to be impressed by Mother Nature's underwater elkhorn coral wonders as well.
Big Momma is the island's most well-known shark diving spot, second only to Fish Bowl. Caribbean reef sharks can be found in plenty in St Maarten's seas, and at an average depth of 40 feet (12 meters), this is the ideal location to see these 10-foot (3-meter) long beauties. Many visitors consider this to be one of the Best Diving Sites in Saint Martin (France).
