Bloomingdale Farmers’ Market
The Bloomingdale Farmers' Market or BFM as local foodies refer to it, is located on R Street between First and Florida Avenues, right next to the Big Bear Cafe and across from a newly renovated playground. Bloomingdale, Eckington, Edgewood, Bates, Truxton Circle, LeDroit Park, RIA, Stronghold, and surrounding Shaw areas are served by BFM. The market is obviously a quality-over-quantity kind of place, there aren't many sellers, but they sell a wide range of high-quality goods. It's seldom crowded and the merchants are always kind and helpful, and debit/credit cards are accepted for a nominal cost.
The market has a fantastic group of producers who provide a wide range of handcrafted cheeses, fruits, eggs, vegetables, grass-fed meat, preserves, mushrooms, herbal teas, local vinegars, breads, pastries, pies, cakes, ice cream, sauces, plants, and so on.
