Byblos

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Byblos is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world. Since its inception 8000 years ago, the city has been home to a community of fishermen. French historian Ernest Renan, who oversaw a survey of the region, was responsible for rediscovering the Byblos ancient ruins. It is bizarre to visit the National Museum of Obelisks, which was constructed between 3200 and 3600 years ago. Other historical sites worth visiting are the Sultan Abdul Majid Mosque and the Crusader Fort.
