Canadian International School
The Canadian International Institution (CIS), Singapore is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school with over 5,000 students from over 80 nations. Students in Nursery through Grade 12 can participate in the International Baccalaureate Primary (IB PYP), Middle Years (IB MYP), and Diploma (IB DP) programs at CIS.
The Canadian International School began as the Canadian Overseas College in 1990 as a university preparatory day school but later changed its name to the Canadian International School.
The curriculum of Canadian International School is based on the International Baccalaureate. Academics, Athletics and Activities, Service and Leadership, Outdoor Learning, and Arts and Creativity are the five aspects of the CIS educational curriculum; students spend most of their school day in the Academic element.
The academic program at CIS is taught in English, and studying a second language is part of the curriculum. In junior kindergarten, daily language instruction begins. An English language learner program will assist students whose first language is not English.
Moreover, there are two bilingual programs available at the school. The Chinese-English bilingual curriculum is available from kindergarten to grade 6 at both Tanjong Katong and Jurong West campuses, but the French-English program is only available in classes 1 and 2 at Lakeside. The program is designed such that students attend Chinese, French, and English on alternating days.
