Channel Islands National Park
Due to its isolation off the coast of Southern California, Channel Islands National Park is one of the least visited US national parks. Santa Cruz, Anacapa, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara are the five islands that make up the park; they are completely protected and kept without the use of contemporary conveniences.
It's the ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts, especially if you're interested in Channel Islands camping because there aren't any establishments like restaurants, bars, or hotels like there are on nearby Catalina Island. The Channel Islands are open and reachable all year long, but before making travel plans, make sure to check the website of the Channel Islands National Park for closures and updates. Year-round viewing opportunities of whales, dolphins, seals and sea lions traveling to and from the islands are available in the Santa Barbara Channel. A bonus to any journey to the Channel Islands National Park is seeing wildlife on the ferry. A day trip to the islands is advised over a whale watching excursion.
