Liverpool
The Beatles have a long-lasting impact on a nation's cultural scene. And no place makes this more evident than Liverpool, the hometown of the Fab Four. Getting on one of the many guided tours that take you to the most well-known Beatles landmarks is a popular activity in this once-hip harbor city.
The Beatles Story, a museum devoted to the group's time in Liverpool and on the world stage, is one of the more well-known of these. Pick up a map of Liverpool and draw a route that passes by some of the other Beatles-related attractions for those who like to explore on their own. Include the Cavern Walks, a collection of murals painted by John Lennon's first wife Cynthia, located in the city center. Then travel further out to locations like 20, Forthlin Road, Paul McCartney's former childhood home that is now a museum. Sites like John Lennon's former residence on Menlove Avenue and the photo ops at Strawberry Field and Penny Lane are also worthwhile stops.
