Channel Islands Surfboards is a renowned surfboard manufacturer based in Santa Barbara, California. The company was founded in 1969 by Al Merrick, who is considered one of the most influential surfboard shapers in the world. Channel Islands has gained a reputation for producing high-quality surfboards that are used by professional surfers around the globe.

The surfboards crafted by Channel Islands are known for their innovation, performance, and durability. They have been used by numerous professional surfers, including Kelly Slater, who won many of his world titles on Channel Islands boards. The brand's boards have also been ridden by other top surfers like Dane Reynolds, Jordy Smith, and Stephanie Gilmore.

One of the top brands in the industry is maintained by Channel Islands Surfboards on a constant basis. The fact that the top surfers in the world like Taylor Knox, Kelly Slater, and Lisa Anderson is not surprising given their "Surfboard of the Year" accolade for their Average Joe model. Shaun Tomson used an Al Merrick surfboard to win the world championship in 1977.

They are still at the top of their game 45 years later. Even when Burton Snowboards had to be allowed to purchase them from Merrick in 2006. Channel Islands Surfboards suffered a great loss as a result of Clark Foam's sudden shutdown. Fortunately, new technology and Burton's proficiency in research and development allowed surfboards to survive and continue to hit waves.
