The software records your movements and converts miles into money for the charity of your choice. With Charity Miles, customers not only help a good cause, but they also improve their own health and vitality with each added mile.

Charity Miles is a free software that pays the charity of your choice for every mile you walk, run, or cycle. Charity Miles functions similarly to a walk/run/bike-a-thon, with corporate sponsors pledging up to $0.25 for each mile logged in the app. The World Wildlife Fund, charity: water, and Habitat for Humanity are among the 37 charities that have signed up to participate in the program.

This is what you do: Sign up for a Charity Miles account after downloading and installing the app. Open the app before each workout and select the charity you wish to support. Start your workout by selecting the sort of activity you're performing (outdoor walking/running, indoor walking/running, or outdoor cycling). The software detects movement and measures distance using your phone's GPS and accelerometer. When you finish your workout, tap the app's stop button, and the corporate sponsor for that charity will give $0.10 per mile biked or $0.25 per mile walked or ran.
