Check out street art at Museum of Graffiti
You made the trip to Wynwood to see the street art and a little rain shouldn’t stand in the way of that. So head indoors to the Museum of Graffiti, a small but soulful institution. When street artists began leaving their mark on walls and subways half a century ago, the most notoriety they could hope for was a long arrest record. The Museum of Graffiti tracks the history of tagging, from its genesis in 1970s New York to its ascendance as a respected global art form. Dreamed up by Alan Ket, an artist who has spent 25 years as a graffiti historian, and Miami attorney Allison Freidin, the institution features a permanent collection of iconic taggers’ indelible work.
The Museum experience includes an indoor exhibition space, eleven exterior murals, a fine art gallery, and a world-class gift shop stocked with limited edition merchandise and exclusive items from the world’s most talented graffiti artists. Now, in the Museum of Graffiti, you will be taking part in graffiti workshops where ponchos and gloves are provided and guests are encouraged to get dirty.
