Church of Saints Simon and Helena

Church of Saints Simon and Helena ranks 1st on the list of the best places to visit in Minsk. Two young children of a Belarusian aristocratic family, Simon and Helena Wojnilowicz, died tragically young, and the cathedral was constructed in their honour. Because of its red brick walls, the church is referred to as the "Red." Tomasz Pajzderski, a Polish architect, created the neo-Gothic church, which was dedicated in 1910. The Red Church has three towers and three uneven naves. Copper chandeliers and stained glass windows can be found within.

An installation of the memorial piece "Nagasaki Bell" stands ten meters to the left of the Archangel sculpture. A bell that is a duplicate of the bell "Angel," which miraculously survived the atomic blast, sits in the middle of the composition. The Japanese people have given the Belarusians a replica of the bell. The cathedral was finally closed in 1932 after practically all of its artefacts were expropriated in 1923. It later served as the location for the BSSR State Polish Theatre before being transformed into a film studio. The Roman Catholic Church regained control of the Church of Saints Simon and Helena in 1990. Since the inside has been completely renovated, Minsk's religious, cultural, and social life is now centred there.
