In the Velha region of Old Goa on the Holy Hill (Monte Santo) and just off the banks of the River Mandovi, there are the ruins of the tower of the monastery of Saint Augustine and the ruins of the once great church of Nossa Senhora de Graca (Our Lady of Grace).
The Augustinians began construction on this once magnificent structure after their arrival in 1587. Construction of the monastery and church was completed between 1597 and 1602.
