Holy Rosary Parish Church, In Angeles City (Philippines)

The Holy Rosary Parish Church is one of the most visited historical landmarks in the Philippines. The history of the church begins with the history of the City of Angeles. The Church of the Holy Rosary Parish was built between 1877 and 1896 by “Polo y Servicio”, the limited and unpaid work of local Filipino individuals for all men by the Spanish border authorities . It also served as a hospital and sanctuary for the United States Army. Another part of the church was turned into a place of execution from 1896-1898 in the shooting down of Filipino revolutionaries and suspects by Spanish powers. The government restored the church in the early 1940s with the help of the US military after it was hit by American bombers during World War II. In 1849 it became a parish with the town of Culiat becoming the City of Angeles.

Today, the Church of the Holy Rosary Parish is located in Angeles, Pampanga, where local worshipers and tourists flock to the church. They also hold parties in honor of not only Santo Rosario but also Our Lady of Rosary de Naval, which is a local celebration in the Philippines. Definitely a must visit and learn Philippine history!
