Columbia University

Charter of King George II of England founded Columbia University in New York in 1754. The college was formerly known as King's College until 1784. By 1896 the name was later changed to Columbia College and finally "Columbia University". It is one of nine colonial colleges established before the
Declaration of Independence, seven of which are Ivy League. Colombia has been ranked as the best university in the world by major educational publications.


The principle motto on which this college works is “In thy light shall we see the light”. Having a huge number of alumni base including some very famous personalities including three United States Presidents and over more than 100 Nobel Prize Laureates. Hence, all these factors make Columbia University among the top business schools in the USA. Columbia is organized into twenty schools, including four undergraduate schools and 16 graduate schools. The university's research efforts include the Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and accelerator laboratories with Big Tech firms such as Amazon and IBM. Columbia is a founding member of the Association of American Universities and was the first school in the United States to grant the MD degree. The university also awards a Pulitzer Prize annually. With a collection of over 14.5 million volumes, the Columbia University Library is the third-largest private research library in the United States.
