Columbia University
Columbia University is a New York City-based private Ivy League research university. Columbia University, founded in 1754 as King's College on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, is the oldest institution of higher learning in New York and the fifth-oldest in the United States. It is one of nine colonial colleges founded before the Declaration of Independence, seven of which are Ivy League institutions. Major education publications rank Columbia as one of the world's top universities.
Students from Columbia can study abroad for a semester or a year at partner institutions such as Sciences Po, École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), École Normale Supérieure (ENS), Panthéon-Sorbonne University, King's College London, London School of Economics, and the University of Warwick. Select students can study for a year at either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge if both Columbia and Oxford or Cambridge approve them.
