Could Protect Against Stomach Ulcers

Stomach ulcers, also known as gastric ulcers, are painful sores that form in the stomach lining, causing symptoms such as indigestion, nausea, and a burning sensation in your chest. Though standard treatment often entails the use of drugs to lower stomach acid production, a preliminary study suggests that anise seed may help prevent stomach ulcers and alleviate symptoms.

In one animal study, for example, anise was found to inhibit stomach acid secretion, so preventing the formation of stomach ulcers and protecting cells from damage. However, research on the effects of anise seed on stomach ulcers is currently relatively restricted. More research is needed to understand how it may affect ulcer formation and symptoms in humans.
