Crane Currency
Zenas Crane- Stephen’s son, learned the art of paper making from his father and founded his own paper mill in 1801, serving mainly to banks, printers, and shopkeepers. When he left the business to his sons, Zenas Marshall and James Brewer, growth gained momentum. Zenas Marshall devised the method of dipping silk thread vertically into the note as a way to mark the face value of the bill. That made it impossible to 'elevate' the value of the bill.
A company does not coincidentally exist for more than 200 years. It takes an ongoing commitment to meeting customers' growing needs, delivering quality, value-added products - and anticipating needs to develop and deliver solutions when they are needed. That continues to be the driving force behind Crane Currency's continued investment in research and development pursuing cutting-edge technology and cutting-edge developments rather than chasing them.
