Custer State Park

A fantastic starting point for exploring the neighboring Black Hills National Forest is the small town of Custer. Some of the top sights and activities to do in the state are located in this picture-perfect forestland. Custer provides amazing excursions, including exploring among of the greatest underground labyrinths and enormous memorials cut into rock. The largest state park in South Dakota, Custer State Park, has its primary entrance from the city. It is renowned for having one of the largest herds of free-roaming bison in the world in addition to stunning scenery.

The charming park was created in 1912 and is named for the illustrious cavalry general Colonel Custer, who traveled through the isolated area in the 1870s. Rolling hills and plains may be found within its borders, with the breathtaking Sylvan Lake and its rock formations standing out as a particular highlight.

You can feed its "begging burros," donkeys who approach your car window and request food, in addition to admiring its abundant bison. Custer State Park is undoubtedly well worth visiting if you have the chance, with hiking, kayaking, and camping options available, as well as the breathtaking Needles Highway to drive along.
