Dhanush

Dhanush is a celebrated Indian actor, producer, director, screenwriter, and lyricist. He is known for his versatile performances, ranging from romantic comedies to action thrillers, and has garnered numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards.

Born Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Ranganathan on July 28, 1982, in Madras, India (now Chennai), Dhanush entered the film industry as an assistant director to his father, director Kasthuri Raja. He made his acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film "Thullathadi," and his breakthrough performance came in the 2004 romantic drama "Kadhal Kondein."

Dhanush established himself as a leading actor in Tamil cinema with films like "Thirudi Thirumagan" (2006), "Yaaradi Nee Mohini" (2008), and "Aadukalam" (2011), showcasing his ability to connect with audiences across various genres. He also ventured into Hindi cinema with films like "Raanjhanaa" (2013) and "Shamitabh" (2015), further expanding his reach.

Beyond acting, Dhanush has also made significant contributions as a filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with the 2007 Tamil film "Padikkathavan," and has since directed several successful films, including "Naan" (2012), "Velai Illa Pattadhari" (2014), and "The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe" (2018).

A true multihyphenate, Dhanush is also a talented lyricist and has penned several songs for his films. He has received the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist – Tamil twice, for his work in "Naan" (2012) and "Velai Illa Pattadhari" (2014).

Dhanush is also a successful producer, having established his own production company, Wunderbar Films. He has produced several films, including his own directorial ventures as well as other critically acclaimed films like "Kaala" (2018) and "Asuran" (2019).

Philanthropy plays a significant role in Dhanush's life. He is an active supporter of various social causes and has established his own charitable foundation, the Dhanush Foundation, which works towards providing education and healthcare to underprivileged children.

Dhanush is a recipient of numerous awards, including four National Film Awards for Best Actor – Tamil for his performances in "Aadukalam" (2011), "Vaathikudi Kaalai" (2014), "Naan Sirithal" (2016), and "Asuran" (2019). He has also received five Filmfare Awards South, including three for Best Actor – Tamil and two for Best Lyricist – Tamil.
