Drepung Loseling Monastery
Drepung Monastic University, founded in 1416 near Lhasa, Tibet, is the predecessor to Drepung Loseling Monastery. Originally the largest and most influential Tibetan monastery, Drepung has a centuries-old history as a center for education, spiritual practice, and meditation. Amid political changes in Tibet, many Drepung monks sought refuge in India and beyond.
In 1991, the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta was established by the Mystical Arts of Tibet organization, founded by exiled monks of the Dalai Lama. The aim was to share the profound teachings of Buddhism globally and preserve Tibetan Buddhist culture. Atlanta's Drepung Loseling Monastery is a hub for meditation, Tibetan Buddhist studies, and intercultural outreach.
Resident monks, well-versed in Drepung's ancient traditions, offer spiritually enriching activities like rituals, meditation sessions, and Buddhist philosophy lectures.
