Duc Vien Buddhist Temple

Duc Vien Buddhist Temple is a testament to Vietnamese culture and Buddhism's peaceful teachings. It was founded by Venerable Dam Luu in 1980. The temple follows Pure Land Buddhism, encouraging people to chant the "Pure Land Buddhist Recitation for Rebirth in the Western Realm."

When you step inside, it's a sight to behold. The Buddha Hall is pretty fancy, with its high altar featuring statues like Buddha Amitabha, Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, and Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta. And there are more statues of revered figures like Shakyamuni Buddha and Bodhisattva Manjushri—pretty impressive, right?

The temple has a lovely garden with pathways under big trees and benches in grassy areas, perfect for folks to find peace after a long day. There's even a rock garden and a cave dedicated to Quan Am. Venerable Dam Luu's commitment to preserving the Vietnamese language is evident throughout the temple, from the couplets in the main hall to the educational verses in the courtyard.

Ranked among the best Buddhist temples in Bay Area, Duc Vien Buddhist Temple represents the dedication and hard work of Venerable Dam Luu and the community. It's a piece of Vietnamese culture right in San Jose, inviting everyone to learn, reflect, and find a bit of peace in their hearts.
